This is a somewhat surprising first announcement.
What are the results of the police investigation into the ticket fraud/overbooking incident of Oct. 2006?
What ticket security measures are being taken and what guarantees are there that the same problems won’t happend again?
What decisions have been made and what is the status of recompenses for those who signed up on the lists at the doors for not being able to get into the SPA because of the problems?
Just curious that there are announcements about tickets going on sale for the next Whitby without any announcements about resolving these issues from the last Whitby fiasco…

We would like to know the same!
We want to know the result of the investigations. What is happening about the 2 tickets that we had that were deamed usless???
I have emailed you,as your staff tried to say that you would not contact if you could not read my writing (what the hell? if my writing is that bad then write them out yourselves!)and no response. Maybe it would be a good idea to put your resources to solving the problems you already have to sort out rather than sell tickets for another, have you never heard of prioritising???
If contacting each individual to acknowledge their complaint and sort out recompences with them is so low on your agenda. Why should we buy more tickets with such bad service and no assurances that the same thing won’t happen again. Was there really ticket fraud or just a cover up of an obvious overbooking to try and save face (and prevent a riot)? Have you even got a crime reference number? How much in losses have you recorded to them?

Great news about tickets being made available!
Hope the Police Investigation catches the little b’stard doing the ticket scam.
I think some people are forgetting it’s also WGW promoters that are aggrieved parties in the problem.

Great news! And as Glenn says WGW HQ have lost a lot more through this that any one indiviual, stay clam, stay reasonable and things will get sorted.
See you all in April!

I too agree with the others, i havent heard anything further to what is happening about a refund or something for me & my partner over this outrageous fiasco.
I keep checking about news, and it seems that the WGW camp have gone quiet about what has happened, we (as your paying & disappointed Oct customers)have every right of knowing what measures are being taken over Ticket Fraud & infact if this was even the case!!
You must realise that alot of people (including myself & my GF) are angry & upset after we paid good money for badly designed tickets to then get told that we could not enter Friday night’s Event after travelling hundreds of miles to be there and to see the Damned for the first time!!
Please give us more reasurrance that this wont happen again (if it did?!)yes negative thoughts are bound to occur as we all know this problem happened April 2005. My GF has been before to WGW & commented that the tickets were poorly done this time,as before they have been on holographic card etc. surely all the extra ticket money we paid for this event should more then cover the price of decent Security Tickets.
I am yet another waiting for answers & an apology (and some sort of compensation) If these tickets were copied Learn by this, we pay enough to you to supply us with fantastic live acts etc & we hope the security of our place at being there.
I shall await your reply in this matter.

Great to see the event is still going. As much as I can understand people felling the way they do, maybe this is one we all take on the chin to help the event out?
By Gael Force on 11.12.06 8:24 am
In reply to the last comment, some people can afford to ‘take it on the chin’ but as i work a low paid job, the amount i paid for the tickets(almost £80) was alot of money for me (not including the accomodation costs too)
Granted it is a great event, but if you cant gain entry after paying for your (guaranteed access) ticket to see the bands you want to see then it would have been better for me to have just let the money just fly away or burnt it.
Whatever has happened at the October event i need reassurance that this will not be a problem again as i dont feel i can afford to waste the amount of money for nothing again.
Im not picking at the event organisers as such it is just that it was my first whitby and i had heard so much about it & to then have that happen it just seemed like the rest of the weekend was nothing due to the disappointment.
Can we please have an update and reassurance of the frauding of tickets (if this was the case) so that everyone can move on and concentrate on looking forward to the next whitby knowing they have a guarantee this will not happen again, and these people who did de-fraud this are prosecuted accordingly.

I agree with Matt here - I know the first reponse for those of us for whom Whitby is something extra special is sometimes to be defensive on behalf of the organisers, but October’s problems need to be sorted out and a solution communicated via the website before tickets for the next one are placed on sale. Just from a basic customer-care point of view. No one wants to pay out for something that they can’t get into, especially when getting ready sometimes takes half the day … I certainly would not buy tickets unless I was sure that fraud-prevention measures were put in place.

We have increased our ticket security and have been given the go-ahead for April. The Police and Council are still looking into the matter. Until we have more information we cannot give you any further information
