WGW – Bring and Buy Stall
Its that time of year again when you are packing for Whitby and either finding you don’t have *anything* to wear, or that you have a wardrobe of clothes and you need a clear out. The answer to your problems is, this Whitby as ever, the Bring and Buy stall!
For those of you who are looking to buy we are to be found on the Stage at the Metropol from 9 to 5 on the Friday and 9 to 4 on the Saturday selling quality second hand alternative clothes. 10% of what you pay goes to the cats and bats charity (the rest goes to whoever brought the clothes to sell).
For the Sellers:
- We sell your clothes for you, 10% of the money you receive will go to the Cats and Bats Charity.
- The stall runs from 9 to 5 on the Friday and 9 to 4 on the Saturday in the Metropole. We will only take in clothes between 9 – 12 on Friday and 9 – 11 on Saturday. Due to incidents at previous Whitbys also have to insist that people may NOT bring items for ‘someone else’ if already bringing their own.
- Each seller to bring no more than 10 items to sell. (This allows more people to have a chance at selling some of their garments.) Chose the ten items you feel are most likely to sell and you will be more likely to get a positive outcome.
- Seller to put a name on the item label, as well as a number from 1 — 10 and description, a price and wherever possible a size. This should be an EXACT copy of what is on the list they hand to the stall holders, so that we can trace your item in the event of your label falling off or being removed by a customer. Contact details are also handy. If you are willing to reduce the item for a quick sale on the second day add the details of the reduced price to the list.
- If feasible, bring coat hangers, and have the clothes ready for hanging. (Bringing coat hangers will mean your stuff gets put up earlier and hopefully sold earlier.)
- We will not accept any of the following for sale: jewellery, worn knickers stockings or tights – and any damaged or worn out clothing.
- We do not accept clothes or items made specially for sale.
- We cannot accept responsibility if items are damaged or stolen from the stall, although we take precautions to reduce the risk of theft if people try items on by ensuring they leave their valuables at the stall.
- We retain the right to refuse items on the basis of poor quality and in the event that the stall is over stocked (this happens often as we only get allocated so much space). If you want to ensure you get your items to us while there is still space we advise before noon on the Friday.
- Due to space issues we will not accept more than 2 pairs of shoes/boots as part of your ten items.
- Unsold items and money from items sold need to be collected before 4 pm on the Saturday, any items uncollected at this point will be given to a local Charity Shop, any money uncollected at this point will be given to the Charity.
- Please remember that the stall is run for Charity and that all workers on the stalls are unpaid volunteers.
