Just in from the Elsinore

Seeing as Unkie Len in the Elsi have always been good to us lot, I think it’s worth putting this up here.

The Elsinore will this time be doing food to Take Away or Eat in the Elsi with your pint of Cider & Black or Strongarm ;) . They’ll have plenty or Sammiches and some hot stuff like Curry & Vegi Chilli.

Beholder Download Track

Please take a moment to check out a unique download Single being released by Beholder for The Sophie Lancaster Foundation.
This will be released via Lime Records and will be available worldwide and should you be able to give this any coverage we would
be immensely grateful. With the support of Sophies mother Sylvia and brother Adam, we hope that we can also strengthen the voices
of all who live so called Alternative Lifestyles whether they be Gothic or Metal.

Whitby Goth Weekend

Please Help!

Many of you out there may know, or had the pleasure to meet, Mel (Lucy*Fur), who amongst other things is an integral part of the Whitby Goth Weekend Festival. Over the past 7 years she has organised and promoted Creamy at the Metropole on a Thursday, as well as being the DJ-coordinator & resident DJ for the Spa, Metropole, & every official WGW event. More recently she has taken on the responsibility of running all Metropole events, plus doing the odd shift of Duty Manager the Spa!

She has also been a key component in raising many funds for Charity in much of her work as a promoter in general.

Mel was diagnosed with Cancer in 1996 and underwent treatment and the Cancer was in remission.
Sadly, things have taken a turn for the worst and Mel recently received the news that not only has the Cancer returned, but that it is now incurable and she has been given just a year to live.

Mel is determined to fight this thing, but unfortunately (like many of us) does not have the funds to subsidise this.

Consequently, a fund has been set up in order to help Mel with funding travel and treatment abroad, (which will cost many thousands), and to make what time she has left more comfortable for both her and her family.

One of the things Mel would like to do is to hug a Tiger in Thailand or America, and it is hoped that enough funds can be raised not only to help her explore possible treatment overseas, but to facilitate this dream.

More details with regards to this, and how you can help by making a donation (no amount too big or small) can be found on Mel’s MySpace profile http://www.myspace.com/_lucyfur_

If there’s anything you feel you can to help, please contact Mel and check out her MySpace Blog as I’m sure she’d appreciate any help that you may be able to provide.

Thank You

The WGW Team

WGW October 2007 Missing Ticket Procedure.

Due to recent postal disruptions the following emergency procedure has been put in place regarding event tickets missing in the post

If you have not received your tickets by the time you leave for the event:

The person who ordered the tickets should print out a copy of their shopping cart order and bring it to the Info Stall at the Spa along with

and one of the following
a) passport
or
b) driving license with photocard

However if you should have any other queries or cannot fulfil the identification criteria, you can call us on 07970 704702

WGW hosting problems

We are currently having a few problems with our hosting. I have checked and our hosting company are having some server issues, so some people may not be able to connect to the site.

I will update as soon as this is fixed.

Problems with btinternet.com e-mail addresses.

It seems that we are having problems with sending to btinternet.com addresses. I am addressing this now.

I have checked and it seems that the topmum.co.uk is on a spam list. This will most probably not our fault due to other people using the same ip range to send e-mails.

If you can please use a different e-mail address for the moment until this is sorted.

::Edit ::

This Just in from our hosting:

UCEPROTECT (The Spam Blocking Service) - Axy_666 attempts to extort 50 Euros per blocked IP or 150 Euros per /24, and refuses to provide evidence on specifically what spam is causing the blocks. We suspect them to be blocking us for mail that our MX machines have relayed for mail forwards, which is not easily remedied because we do not force mandatory spam screening on incoming mail (and instead leave that to customer preference - as many people do not want to
even risk losing legitimate email to spam screens) - however we can’tconfirm this since they will not provide evidence. It’s a bit difficult to pinpoint the source of offending spam for over 400,000 domains without
such evidence, as you can imagine.

While paying money in general is not an issue, UCEPROTECT’s practices are questionable and we are pretty certain the IPs will just be blocked again. UCEPROTECT’s blocks lapse automatically after 7 days, and we’ve noticed our IPs cycling in and out regularly for the last few weeks. At this point we are working on some plans to upgrade our spam flagging for
forwarded mail such that this won’t be an issue permanently, but in the meantime I recommend having your recipients whitelist you (or perhaps use UCEPROTECT as an advisory/flag, rather than an end-all be-all blacklist).
