Further to our recent announcement regarding “rogue” bookings of our regular WGW venues, please could I take this opportunity to thank everyone for their messages of support during this turbulent time. The level of support and offers of assistance have been truly overwhelming.

Regrettably, Scarborough Borough Council have informed me that as a contract has been signed with Sam Hoyle (regardless of how it came about) they do not feel in a position to cancel the Leisure Centre Halloween 2009 booking as this may leave them open to legal action themselves.

Whilst I appreciate the passion and depth of feeling many of you are currently have. Further to recent online postings, I wanted to stress that I cannot condone any kind of boycott of the Leisure Centre or any underhand tactics in dealing with the current difficulties. Those who know me, know that dirty tricks are not my style.

Myself, my customers and supporters have always acted with dignity and integrity. Thats why Whitby locals love us so much! So lets continue to rise above the current difficulties knowing that truth will out.

Jo x

Just in from WGW HQ…..

As some of you are aware, third parties have deliberately secured some of the venues we would normally use for our forthcoming Halloween event. We have taken legal advice and the venues involved are currently doing the same with their relevant legal departments. However the wheels of justice move very slowly.

To put a stop to speculation and confusion, we wish to confirm that the Halloween 09 Goth Weekend Dates will remain the same as originally advertised. Our opinion is that to do otherwise would cause a split that is not in the interest of the scene.

We are sad that after a 14 year association, the Met have chosen to work with individuals who have no interest in the Goth scene, merely a financial one, therefore The Met will no longer be a part of the official WGW. Despite rumours flying around, we also wish to categorically state that Jo has received no notification from the Met that she is barred from their premises.

We have decided to rise above the current challenges made to the Whitby Goth Weekend and we will continue to seek redress through appropriate legal channels.

Elusive have pulled out of the proceedings at WGW in April 2009, and have been replaced by……

Zeitgiest Zero
http://www.myspace.com/zeitgeistzero

Excerpt from Myspace…..
Their influences include…. Everything from the big band jazz of Al Bowlly and the blues of Bessie Smith through to the rock ‘n’ roll of the 50’s, the punk and new wave bands of the late 70’s through to the electronics of Depeche Mode and the Prodigy through to the metal of Danzig and Rammstein. We particularly like music that is not afraid to cross genres or mix guitars with keyboards like Faith No More. We are often compared to Blondie or early Garbage.

Many thanks to Zeitgeist Zero for stepping at such short notice!
